Marilú Hernández de Bosoms was born in Mexico City, entrepreneur, business and philanthropic woman. She is co-founder of Grupo Plan, a Mexican real estate company specialising in the promotion and development of tourism, hotels and resorts. These projects have the mission to promote the wealth and culture of Mexico.
Hernández's professional interests and active philanthropic actions have led to her membership o the Boards of various companies and NGOS, including amongst others,Banamex, Citigroup´s subsidiary in Mexico, FICSAC, Patronato Economico y de Desarrollo de la Universidad Iberoamericana, Papalote, Museo del Niño, Children Museum of Mexico City, Advisory Board World Wildlife Fund Mexico. She is also member of the Board of Fundación Quiera, a bankers association foundation in Mexico and she has held the post of President of the Foundation on two occasions. In 2007 she was invited to be part of the Steering Committee of The American School Foundation (ASF).
Her commitment to environmental causes is reflected in the obligations she has taken on. Hernández has been President of Fundación de la Costa de Jalisco since 2002 - a nonprofit institution that protects the ecology on the Pacific Coast of Mexico.
In 2002 Hernández reinforced her dedication to social causes by founding Fundación Haciendas Mundo Maya, over which she currently presides. The mission of this nonprofit organisation is to generate viable and sustainable micro-regional developments in the Yucatan Peninsula, as well as elevating the quality of life for Mayan communities.
Hernández is also a member of the governing body of the World Heritage Alliance, a worldwide association which promotes the sustainable tourism of sites and communities protected by UNESCO.
Hernández has been on the Judging Panel for the World Travel & Council Tourism for Tomorrow Awards since 2005.
Hernández has received several awards for sustainable tourism and her philanthropic projects throughGrupo Plan and Fundacion Haciendas del Mundo MayaIn 2005 Fundacion Haciendas del Mundo Maya received the Tourism for TomorrowInvestor in People Award from the World Travel & Tourism Council. Also in2007, Fundación won the award for Socially Responsible Tourism organized by the Institute for Tourism and Development through To do! 2007..
Marilú Hernández holds a degree in Business Administration from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and currently is studying a Master's Degree in Public Policy.
She is married to Luis Bosoms and has three children.
