Michael Singh is the Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Culture in Belize. As the CEO, Michael is leading an innovative development strategy for Tourism that combines a corporate business approach with the principles of responsible tourism development. Michael views Belize's future as a leading example of how sustainable tourism development can be done right, and has been instrumental in convincing Belize's government leaders, planners, investors, stakeholders, and a number of international development banks on the importance of making sustainable tourism development a national priority.
Michael comes to government following a distinguished career in the private sector in the US, the Caribbean and Belize. He is the founder and president of BTALCO Limited, a diverse holding company with interests in technology, transportation, hotels, tour operations, heavy equipment and real estate. During his 20 plus years in business development, Michael was instrumental in the introduction of several global brands into Belize and Central America.
Michael has served on the Boards of Directors of several NGO's and Charities including the Belize Audubon Society and the Rotary Club, and continues to serve several regional cooperative associations including the Corporacion Centroamericana de Aviacion Civil (COCESSNA), the Central America Tourism Agency (CATA) and the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO).
