LINDBLAD EXPEDITIONS, USA & GLOBAL

Winner Global Tourism Business Award 2007

Lindblad Expeditions (LEX) is a pioneering expedition travel company providing voyages in Galápagos, Antarctica, Baja California, Alaska, the Arctic, and beyond. The company works in partnership with the National Geographic Society to inspire people to explore and care about the planet by providing innovative marine expedition programmes and by promoting conservation and sustainable tourism around the world.

Lindblad Expeditions believes respectful tourism can be a key factor in helping to sustain a region and in some cases, even repair it. Their efforts to encourage greater awareness and understanding of the issues impacting regions where they travel have resulted in innovative Lindblad initiatives in Travel Philanthropy, Conservation, Community Development, Education, Sustainable Cuisine, and Climate Action.

Initiatives in these areas demonstrate commitment to environmental stewardship and
tourism innovation and regularly engage local partners and international NGOs, together with LEX guests, to offer real solutions and hope for future generations. In 2008 Sven Lindblad received an award from the municipality of Puerto Ayora, the largest city in Galapagos, for his commitment to the preservation and conservation of the Galapagos archipelago and his commitment to the local community.

Highlighted company awards include: 2007 World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Tourism for Tomorrow Global Tourism Business Award; 2007 Seafood Champion Award; 2006 Medal of Commandeur de L'Ordre Civil et Militaire Adolphe de Nassau; and 2001 UN Programme Global 500 Award.
